QTL mapping in an interspecific sorghum population uncovers candidate regulators of salinity tolerance

چکیده

Salt stress impedes plant growth and disrupts normal metabolic processes, resulting in decreased biomass increased leaf senescence. Therefore, the ability of a to maintain when exposed salinity is critical for production salt tolerant crops. To identify genetic basis tolerance an agronomically important grain crop, we used recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from interspecific cross between domesticated Sorghum bicolor (inbred Tx7000) wild relative, propinquum. A high-density map was generated 177 F3:5 RILs coveres 10 chromosomes with 1991 markers. The 19 total QTL related overall health optimal saline conditions. Of these detected, were specific response. salt-responsive contained numerous genes that have been previously shown play role ionic tolerance, tissue osmotic including many aquaporins.

Evaluation of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) lines/cultivars under salinity stress using tolerance indices

Selecting and cultivating the crops/varieties that can tolerate water salinity is potentially animportant strategy to save fresh water resources and maximize the crop yield in salt affected areas. To evaluate the responses of 36 sorghum lines and cultivars to salinity stress, two fieldexperiments were conducted in non-stress (EC=2 dS/m) and salinity stress conditions (EC=12dS/m) using randomized...

Dynamic QTL Analysis and Candidate Gene Mapping for Waterlogging Tolerance at Maize Seedling Stage

Soil waterlogging is one of the major abiotic stresses adversely affecting maize growth and yield. To identify dynamic expression of genes or quantitative trait loci (QTL), QTL associated with plant height, root length, root dry weight, shoot dry weight and total dry weight were identified via conditional analysis in a mixed linear model and inclusive composite interval mapping method at three ...

Identification of Novel QTL Governing Root Architectural Traits in an Interspecific Soybean Population

Cultivated soybean (Glycine max L.) cv. Dunbar (PI 552538) and wild G. soja (PI 326582A) exhibited significant differences in root architecture and root-related traits. In this study, phenotypic variability for root traits among 251 BC2F5 backcross inbred lines (BILs) developed from the cross Dunbar/PI 326582A were identified. The root systems of the parents and BILs were evaluated in controlle...

QTL analysis of transgressive segregation in an interspecific tomato cross.

Two accessions, representing the species Lycopersicon esculentum (cultivated tomato) and Lycopersicon pennellii (a wild relative), were evaluated for 11 quantitative traits and found to be significantly different for 10 of the traits. Transgressive segregation was observed for eight of the traits in a large interspecific F2 population. When restriction fragment length polymorphism markers were ...
